Beta build thoughts
Hello, I just posted this very early version of my game because I'm trying to motivate myself to finish it. This game is the first I've ever made and I feel like I fell in all the traps of starting game dev. After several months of wallowing in despair from scope creep and being stuck in tutorial hell, I made a decision. I'm gonna release this silly game of mine and it's gonna be broken. So look forward to that.
That being said I love this project. It's simple but I really like how it's come together. This demo is a reminder to myself to see where I started, and how much work I've done since. It's important to be nice to yourself. In the spirit of that lemme tell you, I'm proud of this project so far. Mostly I'm proud of the antagonist Bomb Boy. I drew him at work when I didn't want to be doing work and immediately fell in love with him. I was trying to draw a robot but I showed him to my bf who said "oh cute, he's a little bomb!" This simple observation created the entire game. It gave me so many ideas for his animations and design. Fighting through scope creep has reminded me of this game's conception, kill your darlings.
Bomb Boy's Big Day should be finished in the next few months. It's gonna be incomplete but that doesn't really matter. I've got more games to make.
